Sol Munki basically started when I was about 11 years old. I was attending a catholic school and the teacher had me thinking on a whole other level. (What ever that level is for an 11 year old) We had religion class and one of the subjects in that class was purgatory and heaven.
So me being the straight "A" NERD that I was started thinking extremely outside the box. I was just on some wild stuff like, “I wonder if monkeys go to heaven, they never do anything bad or wrong, and all they do is go around swinging from trees and eating bananas”. To me monkeys where the best, they did not have to go to school, clean up there room, and they could crap on anyone they like and still be the an adorable monkey.
Later that evening at the dinner table, I asked my mom do monkeys go to heaven when they die. My mom replied, “No, Monkeys do not go to heaven, they do not have SOULS. I was baffled and kind of mad, so I replied, "How do you know monkeys do not go to heaven, they are good and they do not do anything wrong, all they do is eat bananas, so why can’t they go to heaven, how do you know if they don’t have SOULS!"
My mom calmed me down and basically said, “God made monkeys without souls, only humans have souls”. So basically since age 7 I have been on a quest to prove to my mom that monkeys do have souls.

In 2002 after being forced to move back to the United States from Dubai, because of the OIL WAR (excuse me, I mean the Iraq War), I made this military cap that had SOL MUNKI stitched on the front of it, in a bright orange font with a little monkey. Every body thought it was nice cap, but SOL MUNKI had meaning. Sol Munki meant Survivor of Life Manufacturing Unity Newness Knowledge and Individuality. Everybody complimented me on the cap, every time I wore it, so I figured why not make a few more and make some extra cash.
After going back over to Dubai and later graduating, I became a stockbroker, (YEA THATS WHY THEY CALL ME WALL ST.) And to make a long story short, that was boring, I made some money and later opened a rare sneaker store with my little bro "Fruit".
We labeled the shop SOLE MUNKI (we added a E to SOL so that it could relate to sneakers) and that got crazy reviews and people loved our concept and movement, so we formed SOL MUNKI clothing. And from April 13th 2007, SOL MUNKI has been sold in over 123 stores around the world. From Tokyo, Amsterdam, Germany, London, LA, NEW YORK, to Australia.
SOL MUNKI has now evolved into a strong brand with a strong following all across the globe; we now have a strong team of skaters, nerds, bikers, designers etc. Now if you were to ask my mother do MONKEYS have SOULS she would reply, “YES” MUNKI’s do HAVE SOL’s.
